Welcome to E-Learning Ayurveda  
                    ‘Ayurveda E-learning Course’ is a computer based online learning program of Ayurveda. It is a project of Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India (GOI), New Delhi, designed and implemented by IPGT&RA, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, Gujarat (India). This course is launched by Secretary, Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI, New Delhi on 15th February 2010 and now available through internet for all.

Ayurveda is an art and science of healthy livings which is originated from the Veda. It is considered as 5th Veda and Upaveda of Atharva Veda. Documentation of Ayurveda started about 1500 BC by Agnivesha, author of Charaka Samhita and hundreds of literary works available on this science, mainly in Sanskrit language. AtreyaCharaka Sampradaya (School of Medicine) and DhanwantariSushruta Sampradaya (School of Surgery) are the two main schools of knowledge and it is further spread out in 8 clinical disciplines for the first time in medical history.

Ayurveda has holistic approach as opposed to super specialization. Ayurveda gives more importance for individual and his Prakriti (constitution) for planning his diet and life style. It advocates the concepts of Samadosha - Samadhatu - Samagni (homeostasis) which is the basis of health. It has deep belief in harmony of life with nature and spirituality respecting balance with ecology by prescribing natural medicines to which body system is geared up through predisposition. It also gives the way to come out from hazardous effect of synthetic therapeutic agents.

Ayurvedic approaches are useful in present era and many ancient techniques are still being offered to accomplish the goals of treatment like to strengthen immune system, effective detoxification system, to buildup responsive inflammatory system, to make functioning of metabolic system at optimal level etc. It also provides the concept to balance regulatory system, to enhance regenerative system and over all to harmonize the life forces.

Now, Ayurveda is flourishing worldwide and attracting the people and scientists of developed as well as developing countries. The global need is coming out for better and safe health care modalities by adopting such a system which can provide life style consultation, spiritual way of life, psychological consultation, natural rejuvenation (Rasayana) therapy and management of life style disorders; chronic diseases, adverse / toxic effects of drugs and many more services by which the coming generations could feel healthier.

It is the need of era to educate and promote such natural system to the masses and medical practitioners of other systems, researchers and bio-scientists of India and abroad. So, to provide authentic and basic resources of knowledge about Ayurveda worldwide, this course is conceived, designed and implemented by the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India through this premier institute which is dispersing the knowledge of Ayurveda since 1953.

About the Course:

This course comprises of 67 lessons in three parts, covering important subjects of Ayurveda. The lessons are written by the concerned subject experts and learned faculty members of different departments of IPGT&RA, Gujarat Ayurved University and its allied college, GAM, Jamnagar, Gujarat.

This sensitization course of Ayurveda is basically designed for the scholars of medical fraternities who know little about Ayurveda and also for all who have a quest for knowledge of such a system which can provide positive and long lasting health. Such persons may also avail this course by subscribing it through internet from any part of the world.

Observational Study:

After completion of this course, scholar can avail the opportunity to observe different procedures and practical works related to the different subject by visiting our institute, situated in the core of Jamnagar, Gujarat, India with prior appointment by subscribing a compact programme schedule after paying reasonable fee and priorappointment.

Course Detail:

Part-I contains 21 lessons, out of which 15 lessons comprises fundamental principles and concept of Panchamahabhuta, Tridosha, Dhatu, Srotasa, Prakriti and Agni. Relation of body and mind, effect of food on it, concept of dietetic code and conducts, health and its maintenance and role of yoga. Rest of the 06 chapters are dedicated to the introduction of herbal materia medica, pharmacy and therapeutic used in Ayurveda.

Part-II contains 26 lessons compiled to cover major part of Kayachikitsa (Internal medicine) and Ayurvedic approach to pathology and diagnosis. It covers fundamental principles of management and role of do’s & don’t in the management of diseases. It also comprises Ayurvedic management of common GIT disorders, neurological disorders, osteomuscular disorders, metabolic disorders, autoimmune disorders, skin disorders , cardio-vascular, disorders, renal disorders, liver and neuro-psychiatric disorders. Apart from this it includes the topics related to Rasayana (Rejuvenation) and Vajikarana (Sexual dysfunctions and infertility) etc.
Part-III contains 24 lessons representing the 07 topic of Panchakarma, its role in curing different chronic disorders and in maintenance of health over all. 04 chapters are designated to the general introduction to Shalya Tantra (General surgery), para-surgical procedures like Agnikarma, Kshara karma and Rakta Mokshana and their role in curing unanswered disorders. 03 chapters are related to the diseases of Shalakya Tantra (Eye & ENT disorders) and their management by unique Kriyakalpa procedures. The subjects related to common gynaecological disorders and obstetrical cares as per Ayurveda were covered in 06 chapters. The issue related to new born baby and child like breast milk feeding, role of Sansakara in the life and Ayurvedic approach of nutrition for pregnant women and children etc. were presented in last 04 chapters.

One can reach the home page by clicking the web site directly or through Where, by clicking the login button if one has already subscribed the course, otherwise one has to subscribe the course by clicking the sign up button and follow the steps accordingly. There is integration of account with Paypal site for online transaction of money by credit card / e-cheque for international users and Indian users separately.

How to Use:

After getting user name & password by creating an account, one can login the course from the home page by clicking login button and have the access to the subscribed course / part of the course. The course will be available for one year from the date of subscription to learn and complete it.

There are certain facilities to contact with the experts of the lessons for any query either through email or via chat / Skype with In-charge of the course. Subscriber can take the print out of lessons for permanent record.
